Peace Country Writing Contest

Hosted by Spirit River Municipal Library

Prize: a handbound copy of the winner’s story or collection of writing in miniature format, one for each category, made by local bookbinder Carolyn Kosabeck. A copy will also be kept in Spirit River Municipal Library.

Three categories: Child 10 and under, Youth 18 and under, Adult 19 and up.

Guidelines:

This contest is open to all writers who are Peace Country residents. All work must be original and written by the applicant.

Writers should prepare between 100 and 10,000 words for a book at least 16 pages long. All genres are acceptable, just please consider, as the judges must, that a copy of the winner’s book will be in the library and available to patrons.

Illustrations will not be judged with the writing but are welcome to be included in the winners’ books. Please do not send images unless you have won. Illustrations must be sent as pictures. Applicants are responsible for the quality of the images. All pictures not created by the applicant should be in the public domain.

Multiple entries are allowed so long as an entry fee is included with each entry. Entry fees are a direct donation to the Spirit River Municipal Library.

Winners will be contacted to consult with Carolyn as to the design of the book. Final layout and materials will be determined by the bookbinder. Entries will not be changed in any way unless agreed to by the writer. Prize delivery will be arranged.

Contestants’ work belongs to them. Copyright remains with the writer. No entries other than the winners’ work will be used in any way. Winners’ work will be reproduced only to make their books and a copy for the library.

Judging will be blind.
